1. Q: When will the construction project begin?
A: Traffic restrictions are anticipated to begin no earlier than March 31, 2008.
2. Q: How long will the construction take?
A:Construction is expected to be completed by fall of 2009. There will be no traffic restrictions or closures between October 15, 2008 and March 30, 2009.
3. Q: What exactly are you doing?
A: Reconstructing two single span bridges on I-79 over SR 6/19/322 as well as reconstruction of new bituminous roadway, adding new drainage, guide rail, paved shoulders, highway lighting, landscaping and signing and pavement markings. Includes approximately 1.8 miles north and south of the interchange on I-79 and 1.0 mile east and west of the interchange on SR 6/19/322.
4. Q: Will traffic be affected by the construction?
A: Yes. There is an enormous commitment by PennDOT to make sure that traffic information is readily available to the public and business owners in the area. Information will be available through a variety of sources, including this website, brochures, and display boards at nearby rest areas. The highway advisory radio is available on 1610 AM.
Two-way traffic will be open through the corridor during this project. Motorists should look for the posted signs indicating detour access to businesses in construction zones.
5. Q: Will you ever cut off interstate access?
A: Yes, various ramps will be closed at different times during this project. There will also be 15 minute closures on SR 6/19/322 for the removal or replacement of beams. These closures are to take place during night time hours (after PM traffic peak).
6. Q: How do you plan to address the safety during construction?
A: Safety is a concern with all construction projects. PennDOT will use all the standard methods and techniques used throughout the state.
7. Q: What are the traffic restrictions on SR 6/19/322?
A: SR 6/19/322 will be two lanes in each direction from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm.
SR 6/19/322 will be single lane in each direction from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am.
8. Q: Will there be detours during construction?
A: Yes. Detour signs will be posted throughout the construction area.
9. Q: What will the speed be?
A: 55 mph for I-79, 45 mph for SR 6/19/322.
